Full day Trip to Ouzoud waterfalls from Marrakech

A day Trip to Ouzoud waterfalls from Marrakech is an excellent way to escape from the frenzy of the city to the tranquillity of the countryside for a while.

 Our day trip from Marrakech begins at 8am, when we pick you up from your accommodation.  We share a three hour journey through interesting landscapes and Berber villages in our comfortable minibus as we head towards the friendly village of Tanaghmeilt, enjoying a comfort break along the way. Before long we are passing through ancient olive trees into a clearing and from here it is a short walk to the picturesque waterfalls.

At 110 metres high the clear waters of the Al Abid River cascade over three terraced levels.  The sight and sound is astonishing.  We climbed down carved steps to reach the bottom of the falls where there is a natural pool, perfect for swimming or diving into for some refreshing fun.  If you wish there are lovely spots around the falls where you can simple relax and take in the heavenly freshness and remarkable views. There is the opportunity for a boat ride which takes you very close to the waterfalls and sprays you with a delightful coolness.

There is a path around the falls themselves, so it’s possible to view them from many angles, and to take a guided hike in the breezy shade of the trees. Often we see a rainbow arching its way through the spray of the falls from this path.

We explore a Berber home where we are welcomed by a wonderful host and are able to see the traditional way of life.

The local children are charming, full of unending smiles and keen to interact with visitors.  You may choose to buy a local souvenir; crafts are displayed imaginatively along the pathway stalls and hanging vibrantly amongst the trees.

The Barbary monkeys, Macaques, are playfully cheeky and can been seen amongst the trees and close up on the paths.  It is possible carefully to feed them although visitors should remember that they are wild.

During this wonderful escape from the city, we will enjoy lunch at a small village restaurant, soaking up the serene atmosphere and charm of Ouzoud, before heading back to revived and ready for more of the excitement that Marrakech has waiting for us. We will return you to your accommodation in Marrakech at 7pm in the evening.
